TULSA AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Okla. – Airmen at the 138th Fighter Wing took part in an operational readiness exercise (ORE) here on Jan. 10 to practice and hone their war fighting skills.

Highly effective aircraft production and employment, command and control as well as properly executing individual protective equipment and mission oriented protective postures were all exercise objectives.

Safety and quality training were top priority focus items for all involved.

“It was really good to see our young airmen, many of who haven’t been through this type of exercise before, in action and working hard,” stated Chief Master Sgt. Tom Payne, 138th FW Command Chief. “It was also a great refresher for some of our more seasoned folks. I feel like everyone benefited across the board.”

The exercise was evaluated by the 138 inspector general’s office and the wing inspection team which is comprised of 49 members from various organizations on base.

Executing the mission, leading people, managing resources and improving the unit were the four major areas to be evaluated.

Conducting a unit ORE assists in validating the designed operational capability tasking in a contested degraded operational environment while employing the ability to survive and operate principles.
