JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii - Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Raymond T. Odierno visited the new headquarters of the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, U.S. Army Pacific, Feb. 11, 2015, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
During his visit, Odierno received an overview of the Integrated Air Missile Defense Plan from the 94th AAMDC staff, recognized several Soldiers for their achievements and talked with other Soldiers during a tour of the 94th AAMDC headquarters footprint.
“It was an opportunity to discuss with Gen. Odierno the significance of integrated air and missile defense and share how the 94th AAMDC provides joint and combined theater air and missile defense to meet operational plan requirements and support the rebalance to the Asia-Pacific area of responsibility,” said Brig. Gen. Eric L. Sanchez, commander of the 94th AAMDC.
One of the major topics of discussion was the current uncertainty in the world; specifically the instability in the Pacific Region caused by the North Korean regime's intercontinental ballistic missile threat.
Odierno expressed that the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command is indeed the first line of defense against all missile threats and how appreciative he was of the work that has been accomplished with our allies and sister services in integrated air missile defense.
Odierno’s visit to the 94th AAMDC was part of a larger trip to meet with U.S Army units in the U.S. Pacific Command’s area of responsibility.
