SOUTHWEST ASIA – Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve delivered precise and effective close air support on enemy positions near Taji, in support of the Iraqi Government’s fight against ISIL. Iraqi Security Forces successfully seized ground formerly held by the enemy west of Highway One, in order to protect and facilitate lines of communications and supply on this vital route.

Since the operation began, GOI forces requested seven airstrikes to support their maneuver onto key objectives. In addition to airstrikes, coalition advise and assist teams continue to provide operational and intelligence assistance to Iraqi Security Forces which further enables them to successfully conduct offensive operations.

The CJTF-OIR Coalition will continue supporting efforts on behalf of all Iraq Security Forces attacking the enemy. Due to coalition enabling in central Iraq, Iraqi Security Forces now hold the gains they have made and are postured to retake additional territory from ISIL west of Baghdad.
