    79th Theater Sustainment Command

    LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Maj. Gen. Megan Tatu, commanding general of the 79th Sustainment Support Command, presented the “A” Proficiency Designator Award to Col. Sridhar Natarajan, here, Jan. 11, 2015.

    This award is the highest recognition for professional excellence in the Army Medical Department (AMEDD).

    Candidates nominated for the honor must be eminently qualified to chair a department, division or service, or have attained full professional status and national prominence in their field. This award includes all Army AMEDD components – Active Army, National Guard, and the Army Reserve and honors Col. Natarajan’s outstanding Army Medical Department leadership, distinguished qualifications, knowledge, advancement and continued demonstration of exceptional professional ability in both clinical and academic medicine.

    Natarajan is currently the chief medical examiner and director of the Medical Examiner’s Office for the County of Lubbock, Texas and a clinical professor at the School of Medicine Department of Pathology, Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.

    Natarajan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979, followed by a Master of Science degree in 1982, and finally received his Medical Doctorate degree in 1992. His post graduate studies include: Transitional Medicine Internship, Walter Reed Army Medical Center 1992-1993; Anatomic/Clinical Pathology Residency, Brook Army Medical Center, San Antonio, 1993-1997; Medical Microbiology Subspecialty Training, Brook Army Medical Center, San Antonio, 1997-1999; Forensic Pathology Fellowship, Bexar County Forensic Science Center and Officer of the Medical Examiner, San Antonio, 2001-2002.
