FORT HOOD, Texas - Department of Defense officials announced the death of a Soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom Dec. 14.
Spc. Wyatt Joseph Martin, 22, whose home of record is listed as Mesa, Arizona, died Dec. 12 in Parwan Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when the enemy attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device.
Martin entered active duty service in August 2012 as a combat engineer. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since June 2014.
Martin deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from June to December 2014.
Martin 's awards and decorations include an Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
