Mobilization and Deployment, DPTMS Fort Bliss

FORT BLISS, Texas - The 102nd Military Police Company, U.S. Army Reserve from Wisconsin, deployed Nov. 18 from the Silas L. Copeland Arrival/Departure Airfield for a mission in Guantanamo Naval Base, Cuba.

Capt. Marcus Anderson, commander, 102nd MP Company, along with his senior noncommissioned officer, 1st. Sgt. Wendy Lenz, hope to accomplish the mission successfully, but also also allow the Soldiers in 102nd MP Co. to get something done for themselves.

“Whether it be for them to improve their physical fitness, education or overall well-being, I want every Soldier to have one thing that they are going to work on themselves,” said Lenz.

Sgt. Aaron Zodrow, military policeman with 102nd MP Company, is excited about this deployment because it is his first in his military career.

“I’ve mentally and physically prepared for this the last several years,” said Zodrow. “I think it’s a great mission for this unit right now. As far as readiness, we are set to go.”

The Mobilization and Deployment branch of the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security assisted the unit in their mobilization efforts, and Lenz credits a smooth preparation for this deployment to the significant changes she has observed since she last mobilized through Fort Bliss in 2006.

“A newer dining facility and billeting areas at Camp McGregor,” said Lenz. “Closer ranges because we used to have to drive to Dona Ana all the time but the short distance helped to get everything taken care of in a shorter amount of time. That worked out really good for us.”

Anderson and Lenz also credit the strong bond between the unit and the Family Readiness Group for 102nd MP Company as a factor in the high morale of the Soldiers.

“Outstanding FRG, our families will be well taken care of back home,” said Anderson.

“They have already done some things where each one of us is getting a quilt sent to us, so we have a fabulous support network, between our rear detachment and our families and our support group, it is the absolute best,” echoed Lenz.
