FORT STEWART, Ga. - Aircrews from 4th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment “Brawlers," provided 12 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters in order to support the 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment “China," in their training exercise, dubbed “China Focus II," held here, Dec. 1.
China Focus II is a battalion-level, training event which included situational training exercises, live-fire events, and air assault missions. The Brawlers of the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, were able to support to the 3-15th IN, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, with troop movement, sling load operations, and air assault capabilities. The exercise culminated with a joint force entry into a hostile operating environment.
China Focus II is one of many train-up exercises for the China Battalion, named after the regiment’s 26 years in Tientsin, China, and prepares the unit for Vanguard Focus — a 4th IBCT exercise scheduled for early 2015.
This operation was the first battalion-level air assault conducted by the 4-3 AHB since they began fielding the UH-60M Black Hawk in June of 2014.
Both units partnered during the planning processes which will assist going forward as 4-3 AHB is aligned with 4th IBCT for home station training involving air to ground integration.
