SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Grant Schmidt, an Offensive Tackle living in Sioux Falls, S.D. attending Roosevelt High School, was selected to play in the Marine Corps' Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl coming up this January. This rare opportunity is awarded to only those who the Marine Corps has determined best represent the core values of honor, courage and commitment.
"The Marine Corps is very selective with the athletes playing in the Semper Fidelis Bowl," said Gunnery Sgt. William Janssen, the staff noncommissioned officer in charge of Marine Corps Recruiting Sub Station Sioux Falls. "The athletes who are selected best represent the parrallels between the struggle to win on the football field and the struggles Marine face on the field of battle. Grant Schmidt is a fine young man, and I think he was a great selection for this honor."
Schmidt is the only athlete from South Dakota who was selected to play in this year's Semper Fidelis Bowl.
"I feel honored to be selected by the Marine Corps to participate in this bowl, and I am excited to represent South Dakota, and show that we have great football here," said Schmidt.
The Semper Fidelis All American Bowl will be aired live, January 4 from Carson, California on Fox Sports 1. For more information on the Semper Fi bowl, visit www.semperfidelisfootball.com.
