MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. - Three Airmen from the 5th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron were selected to represent Minot Air Force Base as the crew chief team for the 2014 Global Strike Challenge.
"We were selected because of our maintenance practices; also from our stand point in our units," said Staff Sgt. Brett Jordan, 5th AMXS crew chief. "We’re very respected in our unit."
To ensure victory in this year's Global Strike Challenge, the crew chiefs have been training for months perfecting their trade.
"We've been preparing the jet, doing beautification projects," Jordan said. "We've also been setting in and out of any technical order that could come into play; from putting a ground wire into a plane to changing the lights.”
Jordan described the challenge as being both stressful and rewarding.
"We're representing not just our squadron but the entire base,” Jordan said. “It's very gratifying knowing that we were selected just because of our reputation; knowing that we're some of the best maintainers out there."
Jordan says he's very confident in his team and their ability to be called the best crew chiefs in Air Force Global Strike Command.
"This just isn't on us, there have been so many people in our squadron just helping us get ready for this competition," Jordan said. "We're competing for everybody."
