SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Grant Schmidt, Roosevelt High School’s Offensive Tackle and one of South Dakota’s top high school athletes, will take his talents to Carson, Calif., after being invited to play in the 4th Annual Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl at StubHub Center, Carson, Calif., Jan. 4, 2015.
The United States Marine Corps is recognizing exemplary student athletes across the country through the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. Now in its fourth year, the game will feature approximately 100 student athletes selected from across the country based on their athletic prowess, academic success and embodiment of the Marine Corps values of honor, courage and commitment.
Only one football player from South Dakota has been selected this year, making Schmidt THE representative for his home state at the 2015 All American Bowl. Along with one player selected from Minneapolis, Schmidt will be one of two players representing the entire Upper Midwest.
Through the Semper Fidelis Football Program, the Marine Corps engages with well-rounded student athletes to share leadership lessons that will enable future success.
Schmidt will be recognized at a local jersey presentation in November 25 at Roosevelt High School in the Gymnasium, at 10:15am. The ceremony will be attended by students, athletes and Marines from around the Midwest.
