BISMARCK, N.D. — The North Dakota National Guard Military Funeral Honors will render “Planeside Honors” as they receive the remains of a North Dakota Guard Soldier who passed away at Fort Lee, Virginia on Sept. 27 while attending a U.S. Army course.
Private Karissa Morgen Ulmer, 19, of Sawyer, North Dakota, was found unresponsive on Saturday at Fort Lee where she was attending Advanced Individual Training (AIT). She enlisted in the North Dakota Army National Guard on April 5, 2013 and was assigned to the Bismarck-based 957th Engineer Company (MRBC).
Ulmer is scheduled to arrive Friday evening at the Bismarck airport. Members of the North Dakota National Guard will also be on hand to render honors.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at the Church of the Ascension, 1825 South 3rd Street Bismarck, North Dakota 58504. Fort Lee will also conduct a memorial service for Ulmer on Oct. 8.
