    3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Leaders from the 1st Sustainment Command (Theater), 3d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and other units gathered together for a Theater Sustainment Reset Conference beginning in early August at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

During the TSRC, units briefed Maj. Gen. Darrell K. Williams, commanding general of 1st Sustainment Command (Theater). The conference allowed sustainment units to look into the future and start planning how to reshape forces in theater to support future engagements that U.S. Army Central and U.S. Central Command are planning.

Maj. Christina Lewis, the distribution integration branch chief with the 3d ESC, said the event brought together units from across Afghanistan to focus on future operations.

“The conference brought together sustainment units from across the CENTCOM area to open the dialogue between units who rely on each other for support, but don’t necessarily work for each other,” said Lewis. “For the 3d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), this conference helped us to tell our story as forces and equipment are re-postured to support Army missions worldwide.”

While the conference focused heavily on logistical aspects required as forces transition, an intelligence officer with the 3d ESC also found the conference helpful.

“As an intelligence professional, the information I found most useful provided a better understanding of the complex sustainment battlefield,” said Maj. Steve Phipps, deputy G2 officer with the 3d ESC. “I can use that information to provide threat analysis on the effects to sustainment operations.”

The conference allowed the commands, which support more than 69,000 personnel, to come together and ensure they were providing the best sustainment possible leading into the future. During the two day event units established a common understanding of what the CENTCOM, ARCENT, and TSC priorities were, discussed future operations, as well had a detailed discussion of the transition for sustainment mission command from Afghanistan to Kuwait’s operational command post.
