FORT KNOX, Ky. – Sgt. 1st Class Frank Beman currently serves as an evaluator for the hand grenade assault course, Task Force Wolf, during Cadet Summer Training on Fort Knox, Kentucky.
The course evaluators observe and coach the cadets while they negotiate the challenging assault course, which tests them in utilizing the proper hand grenade preparation, correct form in different positions, individual movement techniques, and various engagement usage skills.
Beman, a Louisville, Kentucky, native, views his evaluator role during the training as being the core of what a noncommissioned officer does and pivotal to the future of the Army.
"I love it—being out here facilitating this training is what being an NCO is all about. I wouldn’t want to do anything else. This is what NCOs do, whether it’s training cadets, privates, or other NCOS, this is what we do,” he said. “We are charged with mentoring and coaching those that are the future of the Army.”
