WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. - A Defense Contract Management Agency lead quality assurance specialist here received a unique honor recently when he was presented with a certificate that includes a patch flown aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery.
Tony Trombley was recognized by NASA for the work he’s done with DCMA Aircraft Propulsion Operations Hamilton Sundstrand on contracts supporting the International Space Station. He and his team also support the extravehicular mobility unit, more commonly known as the space suit.
“It’s an honor and privilege to be recognized by colleagues for doing something that is indeed a labor of love,” said Trombley. “It is very reaffirming and also makes me want to do an even better job in supporting our customers.”
Trombley joined DCMA in 2009 after more than 24 years in the Air Force Reserve. He spent his first few years at DCMA Raytheon Tewksbury, then transferred to aircraft propulsion operations in 2012.
Kevin Bartol, DCMA APO Hamilton Sundstrand director, said the recognition is well deserved. “It reflects well upon Mr. Trombley and DCMA,” Bartol said. “He exemplifies true professionalism and dedication in all he does.”
Trombley said although he was presented this certificate, it could not have happened without the “teamwork, dedication, commitment and communication” between DCMA personnel and the NASA customer.
“I’d like to thank Jessica McLaughlin, Carl Strayhorn, Cuong Nguyen and the NASA Extravehicular Activity Team,” said Trombley, “as well as Mark Harmonson, Kristie Chatham, Joseph King and the DCMA APO APH Team for their outstanding and continued support to the NASA mission."
