NASHVILLE – Tennessee Army National Guard soldiers from A Battery, 1-181st Field Artillery Battalion, based in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., returned to the state on June 17, following their deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Roughly 75 members departed from post deployment processing at Fort Bliss, Texas, on the afternoon of June 17, and returned to Smyrna, Tenn., at the Tennessee National Guard Volunteer Training Site located on the Smyrna Airport facility.
The soldiers were met by Maj. Gen. Max Haston, the Adjutant General of Tennessee, with senior military and civic leaders in attendance. The group then proceeded to their homes in Lawrenceburg after final out processing in Smyrna was complete.
More than 28,000 Tennessee Army and Air National Guardsmen have deployed since Sept. 11, 2001.
