JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. - Air National Guard Airmen who recently earned Professional Manager Certification were recognized during the annual Command Chief's Huddle at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center, Wisconsin, May 11-12.
Chief Master Sgt. Danny Doucette, ANG adviser at Barnes Center for Enlisted Education, Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, Ala., presented the Airmen with the certificates to recognize the achievement.
“My goal was to recognize these Guardsmen in front of their Senior Enlisted peers by recognizing their accomplishments,” said Doucette. “This means that they must have received their Community College of the Air Force degrees, but continued their professional development beyond that.”
Master Sgt. Chad Jones, assigned to ANG Protocol, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, explained what the recognition meant to him.
“Being recognized as a Professional Manager is an honor and a privilege I don’t take lightly,” said Jones. “I know what I had to go through to achieve this certification and I will use those skills in order to serve the next generation of Airmen. It also demonstrates to subordinates that I’m willing to make the extra effort to ensure I’m trained to support them to the best of my ability.”
The PMC is a professional credential awarded by the CCAF that formally recognizes an advanced level of education, experience in leadership and management, and professional accomplishments.
This achievement fits into first pillar of the Air National Guard Director’s Four Pillars of the Total Force: meeting and exceeding the same standards across the total force.
“The PMC provides the same certificates throughout the Air Force,” said Doucette. “In fact, a majority of our Air Guardsmen have degrees such as Bachelors of Science, Masters, and PhDs. However, one major difference is Guardsmen not updating their college degrees in Military Personnel Records. Not only will this help Guardsmen [with] Air Force professional development, but enhance their competition for future Senior Enlisted positions in the Total Force.”
Achieving this level of certification is a culmination of a military members Enlisted Professional Military Education, military experience and continued dedication to professional education.
“It also helps develop a more diversely skilled workforce, broadens professional development of our Airmen, validates the Airman’s professional knowledge and skills gained through Air Force technical education and training, and helps prepare our Airmen to meet mission challenges of the future,” added Doucette.
The Airmen recognized were:
• Chief Master Sgt. Catherine Blodgett, chief of Education and Training, Airmen Competency Division, National Guard Bureau, Joint Base Andrews
• Chief Master Sgt. James Gibson, chief of Information Protection, 119th Wing, North Dakota
• Chief Master Sgt. Jose Gonzalez, command chief, 177th Fighter Wing, New Jersey ANG
• Senior Master Sgt. Darin Mauzy, director of the Senior Enlisted Leader Management Office, Air National Guard Readiness Center, Joint Base Andrews
• Master Sgt. Chad Jones, Air National Guard Protocol, Air National Guard Readiness Center, Joint Base Andrews
