MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. - Sergeant Maj. Steven P. Brunner relinquished his post as the senior enlisted Marine of Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14 to Sgt. Maj. Adam J. Moore during a ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, March 6.
The relief and appointment of sergeants major is an important and symbolic event for Marine Corps units during which the sword of office officially changes hands.
Moore arrived at MALS-14 after serving as squadron sergeant major with Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 2 since 2011.
Moore explained that he expects hard work and dedication from his new Marines, and in return they can expect a sergeant major that will give them 110 percent.
Brunner is slated to take over as sergeant major of the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, Calif.
The move is bitter sweet for Brunner. His tenure as sergeant major of the squadron made him a better senior leader.
"I quickly learned to embrace the differences of what I had previously been accustomed to by immersing myself in aviation 101," said Brunner, a former infantrymen.
