SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – This week U.S. Army Central spotlights Pfc. Rachael S. Hudak, signal system support specialist, of Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion. Hudak joined the Army in August 2011.

    Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I enjoy playing board games, video games, watching movies and reading comic books.

Q: What do you enjoy doing most during your free time?

A: Spending time with my husband, hanging out with friends and playing with my dog.

Q: What are your short/long term professional goals?

A: My short-term goal is to finish my degree in physical therapy. My long-term goal is to

establish my own physical therapy clinic.

Q: When did you make the decision to become a Soldier and why?

A: I made the decision to become a Soldier after my husband returned from his deployment to Afghanistan in 2011. I was working two part-time jobs to keep myself busy as well as save money for school. I saw how much the Army helped my husband better himself and I wanted the same.

Q: If you could take a vacation to a location of your choice, where would you go?

A: There are a lot of places I would like to visit, but Germany is very high on that list. My father’s side of the family is from Germany and I would like to see where my roots are from.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being a Soldier?

A: The most enjoyable part of being a Soldier is meeting and interacting with different people from different backgrounds.

Q: If you could change one thing about the Army, what would you change and why?

A: I would change the height and weight program because today’s soldiers are shaped differently than they were 20 years ago. The standards should be brought up to date so that they fit the modern day “Joe.”

Q: If you could hold a different position in USARCENT for one day, what position would you choose?

A: I would like to work in the information technology section, where I can learn from my superiors about my military occupational specialty.
