KABUL, Afghanistan – Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. George W. Casey Jr., visited Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan at Camp Eggers today to talk to troops about their current mission and its importance.
"What's at stake is the power of our values and the ideals on which our country is based."
During his visit, Casey spoke to more than 125 CSTC-A Soldiers about the importance of their mission - training and mentoring the Afghan National Army and the Afghan national police
"We won't succeed until they (ANA and ANP) secure themselves...The value that they get just by their association with you is value that will transcend time," said Casey.
Casey discussed the continued and sustained success of the Global War on Terrorism and the significance of training foreign armies.
"I believe in 15 or 20 years, Iraqi and Afghan armies will be the best armies in their part of the world."
Casey is traveling throughout the Central Command's area of operations meeting with soldiers.
