ELBERTON, Ga. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District will conduct four youth waterfowl hunts at Richard B. Russell Lake (Elberton, Ga.) on Nov. 23, Dec. 7, Dec. 21, and Jan. 4.

Three slots will be available at each hunt for youth hunters ages 9 to 15.

For all hunts, a parent or guardian must accompany youth participants and will be permitted to shoot along with the youth hunter.

Hunters will be selected by random drawing. To enter the drawing, parents or guardians should call Jeff Brooks at 1-800-944-7207 ext. 3424 at the Russell Project Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 15. Hunters will be notified of their selection by Nov. 18.

Hunters can also submit a letter requesting consideration for the hunts. Letters should be addressed to: Attn: Jeff Brooks, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Richard B. Russell Project Office, 4144 Russell Dam Drive, Elberton, GA 30635. The letter must include preferred date to hunt, names of the youth and adult, age, address, and home and daytime phone numbers. Letters must be received at the Richard B. Russell Project Office by 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 15.

All hunters will be checked in at the project office. Parents or guardians must be licensed in accordance with existing Georgia Hunting Regulations including the Migratory Bird Hunting License, state, and federal waterfowl stamps.

All state regulations and bag limits will be strictly enforced. Legal firearms and ammunition for waterfowl hunting are identified in the Georgia Hunting Regulations for late season migratory birds.
