MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. - The I.G. Brown Training and Education Center announced today it is part of a new online account with the Joint Hometown News Service’s updated website for news releases.

“With the thousands of students that come through our campus each year, we are very excited about this new outlet to tell communities, friends and family about their great accomplishments here,” said Senior Master Sgt. Paul Mann, acting chief of the TEC’s Media and Engagement Division.

The Joint Hometown News Service opened its new website in June, which now allows service members with registered units to submit a Hometown News Release DD 2266 online, as opposed to the paper method used by the military for decades. The website also provides public affairs supervisors some new release tracking and management tools.

Service members can access the site from home, 24/7 to share their life and career events with friends and family through local news outlets, said officials.

“We hear it from our leadership at the highest levels, how important it is to tell our story to the public, and this is one way we do that for ourselves and those we manage,” said Mann. “Even if you believe your graduation, award or promotion here seems uninteresting to you, take the time to let others share in that success.”
