CAMP VICTORY, Iraq -- Looking at the work of the 3rd Signal Brigade 3-D Graphics section, it is not apparent only one of the five Soldiers in the section is school-trained. That minor detail does not affect the fact they are good at what they do and will tackle any assignment.
Army Spc. Jason Lessard is the only Soldier in the office who is a trained multimedia illustrator graduate from the Defense Information School, he said.
"It is great because we have four Soldiers just tasked to work in the graphics office, but after 11 months of on-the-job training any one of them could walk into DINFOS and be an honor grad," he said. "They have done that well."
The 3-D section provides graphics support to Task Force Triple Threat and other units operating with them in Iraq. The Soldiers provide a number of services to include posters, signs, brochures and their unit newsletter.
"The graphics we produce are important because overall these things are what people see first," said Army Spc. James Goodner, a 3-D Graphics designer. "It gives people a first impression of who you are and what you represent."
The Multi-National Corps-Iraq crest used for Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno's on-camera briefings, as well as about 30 unit patches that have graced the theater, were produced by the illustrators, but are only a small part of their accomplishments in Iraq, Goodner said. They have even gone as far as creating nameplates for conferences and notebooks with personalized covers.
"People see our stuff and want it for their conferences and events," Lessard said. "We never have to look for work because we are busy."
Army Sgt. Timothy Headrick, 3-D Graphics NCOIC, is proud of how far his Soldiers have come and knows how important the assignment has become to them.
"They take a lot of pride in the fact their work can be seen all across Camp Victory and all around Iraq," he said. "They are a very talented group of guys and it's great to see my Soldiers, whom were kind of thrust into this position with little or no experience , really progress and take interest in this new skill they have learned."
