FORWARD OPERATING BASE SPIN BOLDAK, Afghanistan – U.S. Army Pfc. Levi C. Laws, a field artilleryman with 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, is currently serving with Combined Task Force 1-6 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at Forward Operating Base Spin Boldak.

Laws, a native of Greeneville, Tenn., and a graduate of Chuckey Doak High School, arrived in theater in July 2013. He has served in the military for one year and this is his first deployment.

Laws is the Command Post of the Future (CPOF) operator. He is responsible for the situational awareness of his unit.

He has a wife, Maygon Broyles Laws, and one daughter, October.

“I am super excited to hopefully be there for (October’s) first birthday in June,” he said.

Laws joined the Army for something different than the typical life.

“I joined the Army to experience something different than the day-to-day grind of civilian life,” he said.

Laws’s deployment will last from nine to 12 months. Once complete, he will return to his wife and child at Fort Knox.
