PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. - The 722 civilians who stepped off the yellow footprints and through the doors of the receiving building July 8, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C., were recast into recruits of Mike and November Companies.
The first day is one of many they will spend learning what it takes to earn the title of United States Marine. This stressful night comes as a shock for most as they deal with sleep deprivation, learning new rules, and the loud, incessant shouting of angry-sounding drill instructors. Mike and November Companies are scheduled to graduate Oct. 6, 2013.
