SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. - This week's Third Army/ARCENT Soldier of the Week is Spc. Michelle Rae Feyen, 213th Military Intelligence Battalion analyst, attached to Third Army/ARCENT. The Wisconsin native joined Third Army/ARCENT from the 297th Military Intelligence Battalion, 513th Military Intelligence Brigade, Fort Gordon, Ga.
"I love what I do and I have learned so much," said Feyen who enlisted in the Army three years ago as an analyst. "I joined the Army so I could serve my country and continue my education."
She is currently preparing to participate in the Soldier of the Month board.
"I want to win and have the opportunity to participate in the Soldier of the Quarter board. Winning these boards will be a great accomplishment and prepare me to go before the promotion board," she said.
"I want to become a noncommissioned officer so I can lead soldiers and develop potential leaders." she added. "I've had awesome leaders who helped and guided me when I needed it the most and I would like the opportunity to do it for others."
Q: What are your current military/professional goals?
A: My goals are to become a noncommissioned officer, further my education and become a sexual assault response coordinator.
Q: What would you like to be doing 10 years from now?
A: I would like to earn my masters in psychology, be a senior noncommissioned officer, and have a larger family.
Q: Besides being a soldier, What did you want to be when you were younger?
A: I wanted to be a lawyer.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being a soldier?
A: What's not to love? I've wanted to be a soldier since high school. I am just fortunate I am one.
Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you?
A: My kids, food and a ton of books. My kids and I love to read.
Q: If you could spend an hour with anyone, who would it be and why?
A: My grandmother Feyen. I was very young when she passed and I could benefit so much by just knowing her.
Q: Where is your favorite place to vacation?
A: Lake Superior: it's beautiful and peaceful, not to mention the fishing is great.
Q: What was the best birthday gift you ever received?
A: My mother lived through a horrible accident on my 30th birthday.
Q: If you could attend any live event, what would it be?
A: The Iron Bowl. I would love to watch the Alabama Crimson Tide beat Auburn.
