ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Larry Garry, of Kansas City, recently enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard and will serve with the Detachment 1, Headquarters Company, 35th Infantry Division in Lexington.
“I want to have a definite plan and direction after I graduate from college,” said Garry. “I felt that the Army would be a great route for me to go.”
Currently Garry is studying at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph and is enrolled in the ROTC program.
“I hope to be successful in my Guard career and one day be an officer,” said Garry.
Garry will report to Fort Benning, Ga., for basic training in June. He will later receive instruction for his military occupation as a logistical specialist.
Garry is a graduate of University Academy in Kansas City. He is the son of Glenda Garry.
Garry was recruited by Sgt. 1st Class Jordan Bennett out of the St. Joseph recruiting office.
