U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District recently launched a new and improved online platform for discussing water management, drought and other topics affecting the Savannah River Basin.

The new platform, called "Balancing the Basin" provides the lastest information about the three dams and reservoirs the Savannah District operates on the Savannah River--lakes Hartwell, Richard B. Russell and J. Strom Thurmond.

Members of the public with an interest in the basin are encouraged to subscribe by visiting the site at http://balancingthebasin.armylive.dodlive.mil and entering a valid e-mail address in the "Subscribe" box. Subscribers will receive automatic updates every time the Corps posts new content to Balancing the Basin.

There is no charge to subscribe. E-mail addresses are not shared with third-parties, and users can discontinue their subscription any time.

This new system allows for more frequent updates in real-time, so subscribers will get the latest information as it happens. Additionally, the new platform allows readers to post comments and questions directly onto the site and on specific posts and articles. This “Comments” tool allows readers to interact with Corps water managers and other officials as well as other readers.

The improved layout and structure organizes content in one convenient, predictable and searchable format. It includes a set of categories that organizes and archives content, enhancing the browsing experience. It also integrates with social media, so users can share content directly to Facebook, Twitter and more with a single click.

For questions or concerns about Balancing the Basin, please contact the Corporate Communications Office at 912-652-5777.
