A B-52H Stratofortess engines are fired up using starter cartridges during a minimum-interval takeoff at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., Aug. 15, 2013. A small-controlled explosive filled with approximately four pounds of gun powder is placed into each engine to quick-start the B-52. This process increases the aircrafts start-up time to less than 10 minutes. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Brittany Y. Auld)
