Members from the newly arrived French coy Investigation and Scout Squadron conducted a situational awareness patrol to help get a measure of Kosovo Forces’ impact on the Kosovo population July 29. The patrol visited the Devic Monastery and met with a member of the Kosovo Police stationed there to talk about his job in keeping the monastery safe. From there, they visited the town of Banja, meeting with families to discuss the issues they have in the area. According to French Army Sgt. Geoffrey Wissocq, a soldier with Multinational Battle Group-East’s French coy, speaking with the people in Kosovo allows KFOR’s mission to go smoothly. “I think that if you want to understand what is happening in Kosovo, you have to speak with the people and understand their problems,” Wissocq, from Lille, France, said. “If we don’t speak with the people, we can’t help them.” This patrol was the first for the squadron, who arrived to relieve the previous French Coy in July.
