The remains of Sgt. 1st. Class Joseph Steinberg, a member of Battery C, 15th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, arrived July 29, at the San Jose Mineta Airport. Steinberg was a Prisoner of War during the Korean War, where he passed away in 1951. His remains were returned to the U.S. Government by the Republic of Korea and identified through modern DNA technology. Steinberg’s family will finally be able to put him to rest alongside his three brothers, all of them World War II veterans, at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, Calif.
