Visit to Comite River Diversion with Col. Scotty Autin, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New Orleans District, with Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Secretary Glenn Ledet

Col. Scotty Autin, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New Orleans District, joined Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Secretary Glenn Ledet and USACE project representatives onsite for a construction update on the Comite River Diversion Project.

Located in East Baton Rouge Parish, the 12-mile-long diversion channel is designed to reduce flood risk for communities across the Comite River Basin by diverting floodwaters during heavy rainfall and headwater flooding. Major features include control structures, bridges, rock chutes, and improvements to three bayous.

In partnership with USACE, LADOTD, the project's non-federal sponsor, is constructing three highway bridges and one railroad bridge to support this vital flood risk reduction project. Together, these efforts are helping strengthen the region's resilience and reduce flood risk for communities across the basin.
