A teen peers beneath the ripples of the swimming pool at Crafton Hills College to help his team navigate their submersible around obstacles as part of SeaPerch Academy Summer Camp. SeaPerch Academy is a two-week robotics contest organized by The Science Experience and supported in part by Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division and the Office of Naval Research. The Science Experience is a fledgling center for science education based in Banning, Calif., that is working to familiarize local children with science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The event was supported by the local warfare center as part of its long-term strategy to develop the next generation of Navy scientists and engineers.
