    Guy Fontenot, a park ranger for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, rescues a distressed barn owl while on patrol June 17, 2026, in the Bonnet Carre’ Spillway, a flood-risk management structure maintained and operated by the USACE New Orleans District. Fontenot and other USACE personnel transported the owl to the Wildlife Hospital of Louisiana, part of the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, to be treated for dehydration and severe exhaustion.
