Gen. David Petraeus, the commanding general of Multi-National Force - Iraq, takes a stroll through a market in downtown Hawijah with Col. David Paschal, commander, 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, and key government and tribal leaders of the district. "The Soldiers of 1-10 Mountain have transformed their area of operation, a feat that few thought possible a year ago," Petraeus told the commanders and Soldiers. "It was certainly memorable for me to walk the streets of Hawijah for the first time - in a soft cap, arms linked with the mayor, deputy governor and leadership of the city and province." he said. Hawijah is a district in the Kirkuk province of northeastern Iraq.
