Gen. David Petraeus, the commanding general of Multi-National Force - Iraq, speaks to the men and women of 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division at Forward Operating Base McHenry in Hawijah, Iraq, June 14, during a battle field circulation of northern Iraq. "It's only fitting during the U.S. Army's 233rd birthday, that I share this day with the men and women of the 10th Mountain," Petraeus said. He told the Task Force Summit Soldiers that they have proven to the skeptics, that a year ago thought a walk through Hawijah would not be possible, that they are wrong." Petraeus congratulated the Soldiers on their successful counterinsurgency operations since their arrival to the district in September. "You are setting the standard for the rest of the country. What you are accomplishing here will be remembered in the historic rebuilding of Iraq."
