Lt. Col. Christopher Vanek, commander, 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment presents the game ball to the team captain of the Multaka soccer team who beat the U.S. team, 8-0, June 19. Multaka is a sub-district of the Hawijah District located in the Kirkuk province of northeastern Iraq. The Task Force Summit Soldiers are "meeting Iraqis on their turf, challenging them in their national sport, to show the human-side of the U.S. Soldier," Vanek said.
