Capt. Ron Oswald, commanding officer of Navy Operational Support Center Ventura County, Calif., visited the Village at Sherman Oaks retirement community on Independence Day to thank veterans of World War II and the Korean War for their service. Chief petty officers and first class petty officers visited the facility to spend time with the veterans and learn about their experiences. The Spirit of ’45 event was organized by VITAS Innovative Hospice Care and the Village at Sherman Oaks facility to honor and preserve the legacy of the World War II generation.
