Republic of Singapore Navy Senior Lt. Col. Saw Shi Tat, commanding officer of the formidable-class frigate RSS Steadfast (FFG 73), leads a safety brief during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Singapore 2013. More than 700 Sailors and Marines are participating in CARAT Singapore. U.S. Navy ships participating in CARAT Singapore include the guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62), the littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1), Military Sealift Command's Lewis and Clark class dry cargo ship USNS Washington Chambers (T-AKE 11), embarked Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 7 staff, and a U.S. Marine Corps expeditionary force.
