Philippine navy Capt. Ernesto O. Baldovino, left, commanding officer of BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PF-16), greets Rear Adm. Hugh D. Wetherald, deputy Chief of Staff for Plans, Policies and Requirements for U.S. Pacific Fleet. Alcaraz, formerly known as the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Dallas (WHEC-716), was purchased from the U.S. under the Department of Defense's Foreign Military Sales program and will join one other Hamilton-class cutter, the BRP Gregorio del Pilar (PF-15) serving in the Philippine navy. The ship was named after the deceased commodore of the Philippine fleet, Ramon A. Alcaraz, who was awarded the Silver Star for shooting down three Imperial Japanese aircraft during World War II.
