SAN DIEGO (June 3, 2026) Rachel Markwald, a senior physiologist with Naval Health Research Center (NHRC), poses with the Solberg Award at the 2026 MegaRust Symposium. The award, presented annually since 1967, recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to naval engineering through personal research during the past three years. NHRC, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, supports Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality with research and development that delivers high-value, high-impact solutions to the health and readiness challenges that the U.S. military population faces on the battlefield, at-sea, home and abroad.
