Colonel Russell Savatt, base commanding officer, and the Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow Walking Color Guard joined the Route 66 Mother Road Museum along with The Big Texan for the Route 66 Centennial Caravan in Barstow, California, June 7. The event included a 72-ounce steak eating contest, alongside notable representation from the City of Barstow, as well as various vendors who came together to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and the historical significance it has contributed to the city.
