Lt. Cmdr. Nicole Ancar, assigned to Navy Medicine and Readiness Training Command Pensacola, is presented a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal by Capt. Frank Axelsen, commanding officer of NMRTC Pensacola, during an award ceremony at Naval Hospital Pensacola’s command theater, Pensacola, Florida, May 8, 2026.. Ancar served as a medical homeport clinic manager at Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit Iwakuni, from January 2024 to January 2026, she led 13 providers and 22 support staff in delivering care to 13,000 beneficiaries, she spearheaded process improvements that enhanced clinical safety, eliminated medication errors, and increased Defense Health Agency compliance by 95%, and implemented a coding audit program that reduced unbilled encounters by 78%, recapturing over $283,000 in services rendered, directly strengthening medical readiness, operational efficiency, and sustainment of deployed forces.
