Community leaders and base leadership gather for a housing summit hosted by U.S. Congressman Salud Carbajal (D-24th/CA) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., June 1, 2026. The summit was held to discuss projected workforce growth sectors as Vandenberg continues to expand in mission and personnel. U.S. Congressman Salud Carbajal and U.S. Space Force Col. James T. Horne III, Space Launch Delta 30 commander, engaged with 42 community representatives and opened the floor to answer their questions about potential workforce housing growth options. Carbajal convened with regional leaders, developers, and VSFB officials at the roundtable to align tactical steps for developing additional housing. The initiative aims to support the growing federal workforce and industry partners surrounding the base, building on discussions from a previous forum in 2023.
