Arlington National Cemetery Historian Allison Finkelstein gives a talk on the history of Memorial Day and its connection to ANC in the Memorial Amphitheater Display Room, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, Sunday, May 24, 2026. This was part of Flowers of Remembrance Day, which gives visitors the opportunity to cross the plaza and place a flower in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This event pays homage to the first official Decoration Day, now known as Memorial Day, which originally took place at ANC in 1868.
