Chris Nash, commander of Submarine Group (SUBGRU) 9, delivers a brief about the Submarine Force to officer candidates during a submarine familiarization for midshipmen, May 12, 2026. The two-day familiarization program allowed officer candidates from various Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps units a hands-on introduction to the various communities within the Submarine Force. SUBGRU-9 exercises operational and administrative control authority for assigned submarine commands and units in the Pacific Northwest providing oversight for shipboard training, personnel, supply, and material readiness of SSGNs and their crews.
