SAN DIEGO (April 11, 2026) David Chou , principal investigator of the ‘A Virtual Astronaut Tissue Analog Response’ (AVATAR) investigation, and Erica Duarte, Lab Safety and Logistics Supervisor at Naval Health Research Center (NHRC), place extracted specimens into a secure package for transport, further tests and analysis. These specimens are being analyzed as part of NHRC, part of NASA’s Artemis II mission.
