U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Devon Vojacek, a Florida native and a combat engineer assigned to the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force, uses sign language to communicate and extract a notional deaf casualty from a simulated subway explosion during a training exercise at the Guardian Centers in Perry, Georgia, March 27, 2026. During the week-long training, Marines enhanced their ability to respond to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats through realistic, scenario-based exercises focused on reconnaissance, decontamination and casualty rescue.
