U.S. Soldiers with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division lower their combat equipment as they jump over Luzon Drop Zone during Joint Operational Access Exercise (JOAX) 13-03, at Camp Mackall, N.C., June 22, 2013. Soldiers with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team conducted an airborne assault which included the heavy drop of vehicles, artillery guns and equipment with more than 20 aircraft. The large-scale operation ensured the brigade maintains its capability as a contingency ground element of the Global Response Force. JOAX is designed to enhance cohesiveness between U.S. Army, Air Force and allied personnel, allowing the services an opportunity to properly execute large-scale heavy equipment and troop movement.
