Surface Combat Systems Training Command Great Lakes had the honor of hosting the Honorable Benjamin Kohlmann, Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, during a recent visit focused on mission readiness and Sailor development.
During his time aboard, Kohlmann met with staff and students to gain firsthand insight into the command’s mission impact across the fleet. He also participated in a lunch-and-learn session, where staff shared recommendations and discussed key concerns affecting training and operations.
The visit included tours of barracks and classrooms, providing an opportunity to engage directly with Sailors and observe the training environment. Discussions centered on manpower priorities, infrastructure, Sailor welfare programs, and overall command operations.
The engagement reinforced a shared commitment to ensuring Sailors are fully prepared, supported, and ready to meet the needs of the fleet.
