On Jan. 30, 2026, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District’s Mr. Shin Chang, Engineering Technician with the Quality Assurance Branch, led welder and brazer qualification tests for contractors on a project at Camp Humphreys, South Korea. Candidates performed Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) on thick pipes and brazed 3-inch copper pipes in multiple positions, demonstrating versatility. After visual inspection, samples underwent bend, X-ray, and destructive testing to verify joint strength, qualifying workers and certifying processes, as well as re-certifying those who did not meet standards within the past six months.
